BetHog launched by FanDuel duo to unlock crypto utilities for igaming

Nigel Eccles and Rob Jones, the former co-founders of FanDuel DFS, have re-teamed to launch a new crypto sportsbook and casino, BetHog.

The venture is backed by $6 million in funding led by Web3 VC fund 6th Man Ventures (6MV), featuring the participation of iGaming figureheads Chris Grove of Eilers & Krejcik and Josh Hannah, the founder of the Flutter.com betting exchange.

Crypto-backed BetHog aims to develop and engage players with new casino game formats, built for fair play on the Solana (SOL) blockchain.

The launch statement detailed that the venture’s “platform has emerged from private alpha with a variety of casino games, including exclusive BetHog Originals and fan favourites from popular studios such as Pragmatic and Evolution.”

BetHog is the second crypto-gaming venture of Nigel Eccles, who, in 2021, launched the Web3 betting exchange BetDEX. The serial entrepreneur seeks to disrupt iGaming experiences with new skill-based games, built and secured by blockchain protocols.

“The crypto casino market has seen dramatic growth over the past few years, driven by innovations like provably fair games, robust VIP programmes, and streaming,” detailed Nigel Eccles, Co-founder & CEO of BetHog.

“With BetHog, my goal is to innovate even further by bringing unique and highly visual games to market. I want to offer users unique play-along and skill-based titles, combined with a robust VIP offering. But most of all, this is about maximising fun for our users!”

BetHog supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT as accepted currencies across its range of titles. The platform is now accessible worldwide, subject to certain jurisdictional restrictions, including in the USA and UK.

Following its initial funding round, BetHog plans to focus on product development and expand its reach by establishing strategic partnerships

“We are thrilled to be backing Nigel and the entire team at BetHog in this investment,” said Serge Kassardjian, General Partner at 6MV.

“We believe they are perfectly positioned to unlock this massive opportunity to build the most innovative online casino and betting platform of the crypto era. We believe this will bring in a diverse audience of crypto and non-crypto gamers to enjoy this differentiated and fun gambling experience.”
