MY ICE: Patrick Mostboeck, SVP Audiovisual at Sportradar

With ICE London fast approaching, Sportradar’s Patrick Mostboeck shares his thoughts on this year’s event and how he’s looking forward to reconnecting with existing clients and meeting some new faces along the way.

SBC: What trends are you anticipating seeing at the event?

Patrick Mostboeck: From an audiovisual perspective, I’m expecting to see greater focus on data-driven streaming services. Operators know that bettors engage deeply with live sport, and as they double down on fan engagement, use of data to enhance the streaming experience has become more prevalent.

Increased use of artificial intelligence is transforming what viewers see on their screens. Streams that incorporate digital overlays of game relevant information, player statistics and betting content are increasingly being used by operators as a means of retaining customer attention.

SBC: Can you summarise what’s happened since the last event?

PM: One of the most significant developments in my area of the business has been Sportradar’s new partnership with Tennis Data Innovations (TDI) for global data and streaming rights for betting, and media data rights, for all ATP Tour and ATP Challenger Tour events.

I’m proud to have been part of the company’s pitch team. This is a partnership in the truest sense with the aim of delivering the best commercial value for betting operators and media clients, but also back to the sport. It is based on accessing deep data for the first time to drive creation of innovative products and enhance customer experience. This is the first-time deep data has been available on ATP, so this is an exciting development for the industry.

SBC: What are you looking forward to most at this year’s event?

PM: We work in a global industry and ICE is one of the few occasions that brings everyone together. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with clients who I would normally speak with over a video call, and meeting people who are new to the industry, taking the opportunity to introduce them to Sportradar and the work that we do.

SBC: What will be your main product focus at the show?

PM: The big focus for me is Augmented Streaming, one of the new services available to operators within our ATP Service+ suite of products. Driven by deep data and powered by sophisticated AI, Machine Learning and Computer Vision technology, Augmented Streaming incorporates game relevant insights and real-time betting information into a live stream. It transforms what customers see on their screens and helps them to make an informed betting decision.

Where can we find Sportradar at ICE?

PM: Sportradar will be in its usual spot of S1-140. We’ll be showcasing our full portfolio of betting and gaming products including Managed Trading Services, Marketing Services such as ad:s, and betting engagement tools.

SBC: What’s your favourite ICE memory?

PM: The Computer Vision showcase on our stand last year. We staged multiple table tennis matches each day over the course of the event to visualise the transformative capabilities of our technology. It was a great innovation that engaged operators attending the show and even better to see it go live in 2023 on our Enhanced Table Tennis offering.

SBC: Typical post-ICE activity? What are you doing right after the exhibition?

PM: It’s post-ICE that the hard work really begins for me and my team. We’ll be following up with the operators that we met over the course of the event to further discuss how we can use our technology to help them achieve their business goals.  We’ll also be in touch with operators about further activity to explain the innovative products available on ATP+.
