IGT to continue as core systems supplier of the National Lottery

IGT Plc will maintain its position as the principal technology systems supplier for the National Lottery.

The contract extension was confirmed ahead of the National Lottery’s transition to a new operating steward on 1 February, which will see Allwyn UK assume control of the Fourth National Lottery License.

Since its inception in 1994, IGT has served as the lottery systems supplier to the National Lottery and its former steward, Camelot UK.

“We are pleased to continue to support the operation of The National Lottery, working alongside a range of other suppliers and Allwyn,” said Jay Gendron, IGT’s COO of Global Lottery.

Last week, IGT announced the conclusion of its legal proceedings against the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), which challenged the terms of the Fourth Lottery competition awarded to Allwyn.

The NYSE technology group had sought a reported £200m in compensation from the Commission for its decision to award the multi-billion-pound tender to Allwyn – a decision IGT deemed an unsatisfactory result.

However, the transition of the National Lottery License resulted in Allwyn’s acquisition of Camelot UK from its main shareholder, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), as a resolution to outstanding disputes.

Yesterday, the Commission published the Fourth National Lottery License and related documents for public transparency.

The Commission affirms its stance that transitioning the stewardship of the National Lottery to Allwyn is essential to enhance funding for Good Causes and to drive innovation in the lottery market.
