BAGS greyhound races go online

GreyhoundsBAGS (Bookmakers’ Afternoon Greyhound Service), SIS and Sport Mediastream, (the streaming platform owned by At The Races), have launched a new live video streaming service for British greyhound racing.

For the first time, BAGS Greyhound Racing, one of the staples of the UK betting shop experience will be available to customers online. Customers will be able to view each single race on desktop or mobile by placing a qualifying bet on that race with any partner betting operator.

BAGS will make up to 28,000 races available to view online through the service in 2016. SIS will be responsible for picture collection from tracks and data feeds while Sport Mediastream will handle the creation, delivery and management of the streaming content solution.

BAGS has chosen the partnership as a means to ensure the optimum product is made available to bookmaker partners with minimal integration requirement or risk or delays.

BAGS clains that virtually all the major UK online betting operators have expressed an interest in taking the service, which launched yesterday with the 11.03 from Hall Green.

BAGS Chairman Dominic Ford said: ” We have known for a number of years that there has been a demand from the greyhound betting public to access the opportunity online. We are now able to satisfy that demand.

“This will provide a new revenue source into greyhound racing. BAGS will ensure that money from the online market finds its way into support for the greyhound tracks and the grass roots of our sport.”

Paul Witten, Commercial Director of SIS, said: “SIS has delivered greyhound racing pictures and data into UK and Irish betting shops for twenty eight years, and we are delighted to now be integral in bringing this to life for online and mobile users. Growing the popularity of the sport is high on our agenda and this is an exciting development for a new audience.”
