Gala Coral has announced a major executive coup by announcing the appointment of former Playtech COO Shay Segev as its new Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). Segev will be charged with leading the operator’s omni-channel strategy, which has proved to be the operator’s key driver for growth.
Segev who left leading gambling technology supplier Playtech in April, was a key figure in establishing the supplier retail business division, and in furthering cross over retail to digital capabilities for Playtech.
Reporting on its H1 2015 operating results, Gala Coral has continued its strong omni-channel performance with group EBITDA earnings up 10% to £135.4 million (£123.2 million).
The operator’s governance has stated that it wants the company to be the leading operator in omni-channel capabilities for the sports betting and gambling sectors. Segev’s knowledge of omni-channel strategies and development with key supplier Playtech, should bolster the operators long term goals.
Segev joins Gala Coral as the operator enters merger discussions with competitor Ladbrokes, which could see a merged enterprise with a total of 4000 retail betting shops.
