EstrelaBet obtains full licence rights for Brazil igaming entry

Sports betting operator EstrelaBet has been granted an igaming license by the Brazilian authorities.

The operator now covers all requirements for market participation established by the Secretariat of Prize and Betting (SPA) prior to the market’s launch in January.

EstrelaBet joins the 17 brands that were authorised to operate until 31 December 2029, with a series of ordinances that SPA officially published in the State Gazette yesterday, 18 February.

The rest of the fully licensed brands are LíderBet, GeralBet, B2xBet, F12.bet, Luva.bet, BrasilBet, HiperBet, UPBetBr, 9D, WJCasino, BullsBet, Jogão, Bet.bet, DonaldBet, Bet7k, CassinoPix and BetVera.

A separate category exists under a provisional authorisation, where companies successfully passed the first stages of legalisation but were then unable to meet the rest of the criteria in a 30-day period.

The necessary requirements for a full market license include a one-off license transaction of BR $30m (US $5.24m), a physical headquarters stationed in Brazil, as well as a certification by an accredited company to ensure security compliance, which in EstrelaBet’s case is Gaming Laboratories International (GLI).

João Gerçossimo, CEO of EstrelaBet, commented: This recognition is the result of years of work, commitment and dialogue with regulatory authorities. We always seek to offer a safe, responsible and innovative experience to our users.”

The rest of EstrelaBet’s preparations for full market compliance include a new player registry approach with the implementation of facial biometrics, a 24-hour customer support, as well as the appointment of a dedicated ombudsman.

Another highlight of these efforts is the responsible gambling partnership brokered between the operator and FUMEC University for the provision of educational sessions and the deployment of predictive analysis tools that pin down problem gambling behaviour.

Obtaining the definitive license is a big step and the real work begins now. The regulated market is still in its early days and we have the responsibility to actively contribute to its development,” Gerçossimo added.

“Our commitment goes beyond regulated operations: we want to foster good practices, promote responsible gaming and establish a constant dialogue with society and authorities to ensure entertainment in a new sector in a sustainable and safe way for everyone.”
