Spreadex recognises gambling harm in offering non-branded Sunderland kit

Spreadex are giving Sunderland AFC fans the option to buy the 2024-25 home shirts without its branding on the front.

The UK-based financial trading and sports betting firm has been the Championship club’s principal partner since 2022 and will continue to be placed centrally on all men’s playing kits throughout the new campaign.

Spreadex’s Head of Marketing, Andy MacKenzie, said: “We have a fantastic relationship with the club and were only too happy to work on making some replica kits available to fans without our logo on the front.

“We appreciate some supporters may want the choice of having non-branded shirts to buy and are delighted to have been able to help make this happen.”

Spreadex has emphasised how it recognises that gambling can become a problem for some people, therefore the operator continues to be committed to providing safe and responsible gambling within a regulated environment.

“We look forward to continuing our support for the club and fans with this initiative and in growing the partnership with continued competitions and giveaways to supporters throughout the season,” MacKenzie added.

The news follows collaborative discussions with Spreadex throughout last season. The hummel home shirt will be on sale from tomorrow (28 June) online and in the new stadium store at Black Cat House.

It was in June 2022 that Spreadex was officially named Sunderland AFC’s principal partner ahead of the 2022-23 football season.

It was decided that the Spreadex Sports logo would be featured on the team’s home and away shirts until summer 2025.
