Brazilian sportsbook and casino operator Aposta Ganha has appointed Hugo Baungartner to the role of VP for Global Markets as it prepares to launch its international growth strategy.
The company has ambitions to expand beyond its home market and plans to launch in several new territories later this summer.
Baungartner is a veteran of more than a quarter of a century in the gaming industry, during which time he has held board-level roles at RCT Gaming and Prohards, as well as accruing significant experience of international business development.
He described himself as being “thrilled” to join Aposta Ganha to tackle the challenge of generating growth outside of Brazil.
“With our sights set on international expansion, particularly within the vibrant Latin American market, I am excited to bring my expertise and drive to contribute to the company’s success,” Baungartner said.
“Together, we will navigate new territories and solidify Aposta Ganha’s position as a leading sports betting operator in Brazil and beyond.”
The news was welcomed as a “huge win” by Aposta Ganha’s Head of Product Elvis Lourenço.
“His extensive experience and deep understanding of international markets, particularly within LatAm, make him the perfect addition to our team,” Lourenço said. “Hugo’s expertise will play a pivotal role in accelerating our business growth and propelling us closer to our ambitious vision.”
Aposta Ganha has until now been fully focused on Brazil, with its in-house technology developed in the country and its sports betting and casino products only available to Brazilian players.
However, it did reach further afield to power its esports betting offering earlier this year, when it agreed a deal with Betby to take the specialist supplier’s portfolio of gaming content, which includes titles such as NBA 2K, Rocket League and eFighting.
