HKJC enhances football betting offering with ‘GoalX’ app launch

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has expanded into football via the launch of its ‘GoalX’ mobile app, providing information on football matches, live statistics, betting and live game watch along.

Only available to bettors in Hong Kong over the age of 18, the app aims to offer a ‘personalised journey’ and a ‘brand-new digital experience for customers’ via enabling wagering on football matches.

“GoalX is the new addition to our suite of customer digital experience platforms,” said Richard Cheung, HKJC Executive Director, Customer and International Business Development.

“It aims to address unmet customer needs in the current classic three-in-one app in terms of rich and live football information, easier to make transactions as well as biometric login, eWallet and funds transfer in one application.”

Additional features include live odds, records of recent form as well as head-to-head statistics, and customers will also be able to follow a favourite team or highlight favourite matches.

Furthermore, the app will feature a broadcast element with the inclusion of a free live-streaming service of selected matches, as well as an animated livecast displaying real-time lineups, goal alerts, scores and commentary.

Lastly, the app utilises a betting user interference to automatically display the availability of available betting combinations and predicted returns, whilst the UKJC eWallet option can be used to deposit, store and withdraw cash, and the entire application can be accessed via biometric authentication login.

The launch of GoalX follows the HKJC’s participation in a £20 million investment in a UK Tote Group initiative in December 2020 to diversify its product range and offerings, in a bid to move away from its traditional dependence on horse racing.
