Founder Craig Nicholson departs Black Type

The end of the 2018 has seen a change in the senior management team at online operator Black Type with the departure of the remaining Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Craig Nicholson.

The company, launched in 2016 by founders Nicholson and Dave Gowers in conjunction with Mylo Sangster, has seen have recently moved into new offices in Fenchurch Street in the City of London and enjoyed a record turnover in 2018.

Speaking after his departure, Nicholson outlined: “As a co-founder of Black Type, I am immensely proud of the achievements of the Black Type team. For the company to grow from a start up to be established as a brand in the competitive UK market in such a short period of time is testimony to their hard work and dedication. It has been a privilege to be part of the leadership team through such an exciting journey and I wish them well for the future.”

Keith Oliver, CEO of Black Type, has named Stephen Davison as COO Designate to take over the responsibilities previously undertaken by Craig Nicholson. Oliver commented: “Craig dedicated a lot of time, effort and hard work to take Black Type from the drawing board to the fast-growing business it is today. I, along with the entire team owe him a debt of gratitude as we look to finish what Craig started and take the business onto another level in the coming years.”

Davison added: “2018 was a great year for Black Type and we are looking to continue growing the brand in 2019 through various user experience enhancements. We will also continue to offer bold pricing, as reflected in Black Type offering a best price of 2/1 on Man City to win the Premier League ahead of the huge clash against Liverpool tonight.”
