Jamie Vardy has already fired Leicester City to the top of the league, albeit the league table monitoring the most popular bets among AccaTracker users.
Punters are choosing the Foxes’ home match against Watford to underpin their weekend accumulators in force, with only West Bromwich Albion’s trip to Old Trafford able to match it in popularity.
It is testament to Vardy’s rip roaring start to the season and the number of times that Leicester have come from behind to win, that punters are now taking Claudio Ranieri’s side as more likely victors than Chelsea. According to data from affiliate Team FA’s AccaTracker app, which allows users to keep tabs on their multiple bets, the champions’ visit to Stoke is not fancied at all, despite Chelsea’s excellent record at the Britannia Stadium.
Team FA Marketing Director Tim Pindar commented: “The punters have been burned once too often by Mourinho’s men, which is why they have more confidence in matches in the Championship, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga. It is unusual to see Chelsea so far down in people’s betting choices, which reflects their position in the league as well.
“It’s also unusual to see a Premier League match way down in 15th position, but punters are having a hard time predicting what will happen between Bournemouth and Newcastle United given the erratic form of both sides.”
There are no surprises on which Sunday match punters are banking on – Manchester City’s trip to Villa Park is almost twice as popular as Barcelona’s match against Villarreal.
