Betsafe launches ‘Rugby Challenge’ with Captive Media

betsafeBetsson AG brand Betsafe announced today a unique new way for male rugby fans to get involved in the Rugby World Cup  with the chance of winning tickets to the final: The Betsafe Rugby Challenge.

The Betsafe Rugby Challenge is a video game with a difference – played not on game consoles or even on smartphones, but on the Captive Media network of interactive screens in pubs and bars across the country.  The game’s unique handsfree interface has had male players laughing and talking about it in equal measure since its launch.

The Betsafe Rugby Challenge pits the player as a ball-carrying forward against on-rushing opponents bent on flattening him.  Players score for yards carried and tackles broken.

Former England Rugby Star Kyran Bracken was an early tester and gave his reaction to the game “Great… I can see the current England team doing well at this. It’s a very innovative way of getting involved in the rugby.”

Players who score higher than Kyran’s benchmark collect a winning gamecode and are provided with a destination URL. Upon registering for betsafe they gain entry to the draw for tickets for the Rugby Final.

The campaign will also see Betsafe’s pre match live odds streamed to Captive Media’s screens, where they will be displayed and updated up to 60 times each hour, 15 times more frequently than is possible through traditional TV.

The game is live from Friday 18th of September in 160 screens across the UK including Tiger Tiger in London and Manchester and Bierkeller in Cardiff.

Betsson Group UK Brand Manager Neill Simpson commented: “We chose Captive Media because we wanted to find a unique way of engaging rugby fans.  Apart from the engagement and word of mouth generated by the game, Captive Media also allows us to present our best live odds continuously in the bar environment, to young men where and when it’s most relevant.”

Captive Media Founder Gordon MacSween commented “We’re delighted to support Betsafe in this really imaginative campaign. We expect to serve over 10,000 games a day during the tournament, placing Betsafe at the heart of pub chat.”
