Will De Nardo to provide MyRacehorse with marketing and gaming guidance

MyRacehorse has appointed former Betfair horse racing principal Will De Nardo as its UK and Ireland Marketing Director and Global Gaming Lead.

A US-founded enterprise, MyRacehorse is seeking to strengthen and expand its presence in the established horse racing markets of the UK and Ireland, and De Nardo will leverage his betting industry experience in pursuit of this goal.

The company has a user base of 50,000 owners, sharing ownership of 110 race horses across the US, Australia, UK and Ireland including Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Authentic, with an initial buying price of £46.

De Nardo said: “I’m thrilled to be joining MyRacehorse at such an exciting time for the company, as we look to replicate the successes of the US and Australian businesses in the UK and Ireland.

“The passion MyRacehorse has for delivering best-in-class experiences for its owners was clear to me from the beginning and I’m excited to be able to help deliver this unique ownership model to racing fans across the UK and Ireland.

“Finally, the experience of owning an elite racehorse can be accessible to anyone – which is truly game changing for the sport.”

A veteran of betting and gaming, De Nardo has gathered extensive experience of the space via roles at Flutter Entertainment and its Sky Bet subsidiary, and his most recent tenure as Betfair’s Head of Racing.

A key area of focus for the new hire will be to play a role in consolidating MyRacehorse’s UK operations, where the firm has begun to build up a presence.

Having gained specialist UK racing knowledge last year when Simon Bazalgette, former Racecourse Media Group (RMG) and Jockey Club Chairman, became founding Chair of the firm, MyRacecourse has established a growing portfolio, putting races in training with the likes of John and Thady Gosden, Joseph O’Brien, George Baker and Michael O’Callaghan.

Jules Pittam, Managing Partner of MyRacehorse, UK and Ireland, commented: “Will brings an additional and important marketing skill set to our UK and Ireland business due to his invaluable experience at Flutter.

“He will be influential in enhancing the owner experience as well as working with new partners as he develops gaming opportunities around the world. We are delighted to have someone of such high calibre join the team.”
