1account has recruited racing prodigy Tom Marquand as new brand ambassador, promoting the importance of maintaining digital IDs safety to users and wider business.
Recognised as UK racing’s hottest prospects, Marquand rode 147 winners during the 2020 season and secured two Group-1 wins on Addeybb and a first Classic victory on board Galileo Chrome in the St Leger at Doncaster.
Marquand will serve as the official face of 1account’s consumer-facing Point of Sale material, that will be displayed in UK betting shops and racecourses, whilst further appearing on wider 1account promotional campaigns.
Ben Keirle, CEO and founder of 1account, added: “Digital ID provides consumers with a quick and easy method for proving their age and identity when gambling and also gives retailers complete peace of mind that they aren’t dealing with a minor, with all the legal repercussions that bring”.
“Anyone who has an affinity with horse racing will recognise Tom. This means they’re more likely to take an interest in the subject of digital ID, spend time understanding why it’s so important and learn how it can benefit them, regardless of their age, in a host of online and offline settings.
“We’re pleased to have such a high-profile jockey on board who is as keen to shine a light on the importance of digital ID in the gambling space as we are.”
Announcing Marquand as brand ambassador, 1Account underlined its commitment to supporting grassroots racing programmes, in which the ID specialist serves as principal sponsor of Warren Greatrex Racing training stable.
Further 2021 developments have seen 1account launch specified consultations for gambling incumbents providing detailed information on safeguarding customers digital IDs and wider threats undermining the sector.
Commenting on his ambassadorial role, Marquand said: “Digital IDs have the potential to help consumers track their financial position across multiple accounts in real-time.”
“This responsible approach to gambling is great news for both consumers and operators. I’m excited to be named as 1account’s brand ambassador and hope that it raises awareness of this important issue.”
