Microgaming donation aids YGAM Isle of Man expansion plans

Microgaming has made a £12,680 donation to the Young Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM), via it’s PlayItForward initiative, helping the independent charity expand its gambling related harm prevention programme to the Isle of Man.

YGAM, who place a focus on raising awareness of gambling and gambling-related harm amongst young people, has seen its expansion over the course of the last three years result in workshops being delivered across the UK, Malta, Gibraltar and the Netherlands.

Kimberley Broad, Head of Compliance at Microgaming, comments: “Promoting responsible gaming and supporting our local community are hugely important to us, so we were naturally keen to support YGAM in extending its accredited programme to the Isle of Man.

“We have been very impressed with the charity’s success on building a programme that focuses on increasing awareness and resilience against gambling-related harm and we look forward to supporting them in delivering the vital training workshops on the island.”

Through this new donation YGAM is to take its programme to the Isle of Man, where it plans to work alongside schools and local government to deliver its ‘Train the Trainer’ workshops.

The series of workshops will be aimed at teachers, youth workers and community volunteers, placing a focus on developing digital resilience among young people.

As well as this Microgaming will be collaborating with the YGAM team to facilitate the delivery of bespoke accredited training around player protection.

Lee Willows, Chief Executive at YGAM, adds: “Microgaming and YGAM have been keen to collaborate and this project provides a perfect opportunity to take our education programmes to the Isle of Man, whilst at the same time work with Microgaming to deliver our accredited and authentic training.

“We are hugely grateful for the donation from Microgaming PlayItForward as we believe taking our programmes to the Isle of Man will enable us to engage with another professional (teaching) audience and gain valuable feedback on the relevance and educational content.”

The PlayItForward initiative encompasses the Microgaming corporate social responsibility programme, focusing on health, sport, education, charity and community both at home and abroad.
