Gambling operator 888casino has donated $50,000 (£34,069) to International Medical Corps UK to aid its Further and Faster campaign.
This allows the International Medical Corps to reach disaster zones and deliver health and medical care immediately as opposed to having to raise the necessary funds first.
The money was raised by 888casino customers during its 2015 Christmas appeal and will also be used to help staff from the Corps to stay in communities longer term to train local people and help to improve health care systems there.
Kerry-Jane Kingsmill, Director of Resource Development and Communications at International Medical Corps UK said: “This Christmas Appeal’s support means that 888casino’s customers are enabling International Medical Corps to deploy immediately.”
She added: “Speed saves lives in an emergency – the initial hours are critical for those affected. International Medical Corps will be able to deploy right away, and stay, making the lasting difference.”
888casino has worked with the charity since 2013, and has helped to fund previous campaigns such as helping victims of the Ebola Crisis in West Africa and those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
