Barcelona based football newspaper, ‘El Mundo Deportivo’ has reported that Intertain Spanish igaming subsidiary Botemania are favourites to land FC Barcelona’s training kit sponsorship deal.
Mundo Deportivo , one of the leading FC Barcelona news sources, has detailed that the Catalan club’s management are seeking €80 million (£59 million) for a four sponsorship of its training kit, which would commence at the start of the 2016/17 La Liga football season.
The sponsorship initiative is being led by Francisco Calvo, FC Barcelona’s new Commercial Director. Marketing terms are said to have been presented to Laurence Walton, Managing Director of Botemania and Jose Angel Heras Head of Sponsorship.
The igaming operator would replace current training kit sponsors Qatar Airways. Mundo Deportivo further details that the sponsorship will likely involve digital and social media inventory conditions for Botemania brands on FC Barcelona channels.
If the FC Barcelona sponsorship deal were to be agreed on, it would represent the biggest ever commercial/marketing investment by an Intertain subsidiary.
The Canadian online gambling investment firm acquired Botemania assets through its £420 million acquisition of UK operator Gamesys, which was completed in April 2015.
