Data scientist Axel Lyckberg wins Swedish Gambling’s Leader of the Year award

Playscan CTO and Svenska Spel data scientist Axel Lyckberg has been named Swedish online gambling’s leader of the year by trade bodies Spelbranschens, Riksorganisation (SPER) and Branschföreningen för Onlinespel (BOS). 

On Wednesday 30 March SPER and BOS announced the winners of the 2022 Swedish Gambling Awards – which recognise and reward the companies and leaders placing sustainable play and corporate responsibility at the forefront of Sweden’s igaming market.

The six category awards saw Svenska Spel win the ‘customer satisfaction’ prize. Meanwhile, SPER and BOS judges crowned Kindred Group’s Sustainable Gambling Conference as Swedish gambling’s ‘Best Leadership Directive’.

“We have had a rewarding and really interesting task in going through this year’s many nominations put forward for the Swedish Gambling Award,” said Ann-Sofie Olsson, jury chairman of the Swedish Gambling Award.”

“Overall, the contributions have maintained a very high level, in the work of developing the industry in a sustainable direction. A big and well-deserved congratulations to all winning entries.”

Recognised for his outstanding contribution to improving the detection of player harms and the integrity of his research on compulsive gaming, data scientist and safer gambling expert Axel Lyckberg was crowned as ‘Leader of the Year’.

“Axel has a high level of integrity and thus a high level of credibility in pursuing gaming responsibility issues,” read a statement by award judges.

“We see you Axel and what you have achieved so far in the industry. We look forward to you continuing to push the issue of gaming responsibility to new insights.
