Growth hungry Paysafe appoints Izzy Dawood as Group CFO

Paysafe Group has confirmed the inbound appointment of Ismail ‘Izzy’ Dawood as new Group CFO, who will join the firm’s executive leadership team on 28 September, replacing outgoing incumbent Peter Smith.

A 25-year financial services executive, Dawood joins Paysafe from North American credit score software and systems provider Branch International where he formerly served as CFO from 2019 to 2020.

In its statement, Paysafe highlighted Dawood’s extensive track record, having served as financial lead of Spanish multinational bank Santander’s North America B2C venture and of New York investment bank BNY Mellon’s investment units.

Lauded as a key appointment for strengthening the firm’s leadership capabilities, Paysafe governance stated that it has recruited a leading tech-focused CFO with extensive knowledge of M&A and corporate financing as the group aggressively expands its product and services portfolio in the coming months.

Dawood will be based in Paysafe’s US office working alongside Group CEO Philip McHugh, who commented on the appointment: “Izzy is a talented finance executive with a proven track record in strategic thinking and driving impressive results.

“I know he will be a real asset to our team as we continue our path to become the world’s leading specialized payments platform.”

Dawood commented on joining Paysafe’s leadership team: “Paysafe has a very diversified and highly relevant payments offering and never before has the digital payments industry felt more exciting. I very much look forward to being part of this ambitious company’s future growth story.”
