Playtech and Paysafe partnership undergoes transatlantic expansion

Paysafe and Playtech’s partnership has expanded from the US to the UK and Europe, offering payment solutions to operators in the continent.

The transatlantic business move will see Playtech offer Paysafe’s technology platform and payment products to the European betting and gaming markets.

Specifically, Playtech’s igaming Player Management System and Information Management System platforms will be made available, allowing access to payment solutions such as payment acquiring and card processing.

This will be followed by a rollout of Paysafe’s digital wallet services, with the duo aiming to ‘maximise consumer choice’ by offering a wider range of methods for bettors to pay when using online gambling sites.

Paulette Rowe, CEO of Integrated and eCommerce Solutions at Paysafe, said: “Playtech is an exciting global gaming brand committed to offering its operators a frictionless payments experience.

“We’ve seen great success in the roll-out of our collaboration across multiple US state markets and are delighted to be extending this into the UK and Europe via the same, single technology integration.

“Bringing together our respective capabilities and deep expertise and understanding of the international igaming, technology and payments industries represents an incredibly powerful combination, and I am looking forward to helping the Playtech team grow their business further in new European markets.”

The expansion builds on Paysafe and Playtech’s US operations, which has seen an integration with betPARX, via which Paysafe has supported the firm’s igaming Play Gun Lake brand in Michigan since Q2 2021 and its sportsbook and igaming app in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Publishing a financial update for Q1 2022, Playtech detailed an ‘excellent start to year trading’, as the firm looks to further develop its international presence, including in the American, Mexican and Italian markets, among others.

Shimon Akad, Chief Operating Officer at Playtech, added: “Offering our iGaming partners market-leading technologies that deliver the most seamless and engaging experience to their customers is absolutely central to our strategy at Playtech.

“Payments play an important role in delivering the ultimate player journey and require an experienced team with expert knowledge, which is where Paysafe comes in as the ideal partner for us. We are extremely happy with the progress of our relationship in the US and are truly excited about what we can achieve together in the UK and Europe.”
