Online betting firm Betway Group has undertaken a corporate leadership restructure, confirming the promotion of Anthony Werkman current Director of Marketing Operations to Chief Executive Officer.
Werkman replaces CEO incumbent Richard Akitt, who has taken the position of Group Chairman, with immediate effect.
An experienced industry commercial veteran, Werkman has led Betway marketing operations since 2013, acting as a key stakeholder in Betway’s UK and European market expansion projects.
Updating the market, Anthony Werkman commented on taking Betway leadership: “I am honoured to be taking on the Group CEO role of Betway at a hugely exciting time for the company.
“Richard and I have worked closely together over the last few years and I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role as Chairman. We have experienced an incredible period of growth over the past few years and are determined to make sure that trajectory continues.”
Richard Akitt, CEO of Betway since 2012, will now lead the firm’s corporate governance initiatives as Group Chairman. Akitt commented on the leadership changes.
“It’s been a privilege to be CEO of Betway for the last five years, but the time is right for me to hand over the reins to Anthony. I look forward to continuing our excellent working relationship and being closely involved in the strategic direction of the business going forward.”
