Knowledge is top of the agenda at May’s Japan Gaming Congress

jgcJapan is set to benefit from the inflow of international expertise at May’s Japan Gaming Congress (JgC), according to Takashi Kiso, CEO of the Japan based International Casino Institute.

Talking two months ahead of the inaugural JgC he confirmed: “For the emerging market to be successful, I think it is very important to obtain the knowledge from countries in which the gaming infrastructure can be described as advanced.”

He added: “Also, for the international delegates, it is the best place to understand the momentum of the casino legalisation in Japan. I am sure that the attending delegates will benefit from learning about the most up-to-date developments across a wide range of topics impacting the sector in Japan.

“You really have to be in Japan to get a full and comprehensive understanding of the scale and nature of the proposed legislation, what it offers commercial organisations and how to enjoy the benefits from such an exciting market.”

Rory Credland, Senior Producer responsible for JgC said: “Ever since the Integrated Resorts Enabling Bill was submitted in December 2013 and backed by a 208 member-strong cross party group we have positioned the Congress as an educational event for both delegates and policy advisers keen to understand how to successfully implement an effective regulatory framework. Compared to its Asian rivals Japan lags behind in terms of inbound tourism and one of the most important insights arising from the Congress is going to be how integrated resorts can accelerate economic activity in the Meeting Incentive Convention and Exhibition sector as well as the impact on tourism as Japan prepares to host the 2020 Olympics.”
