Gibraltar-based safer gambling consultancy Crucial Compliance has appointed igaming executive Nigel Birrell as Non-Executive Chairman, advising the company on its future growth strategy and corporate directives.
An industry figurehead, Birrell serves as the current chief executive of European online lottery brokerage Lottoland Group.
An expert in corporate finance and mass-market enterprise strategies, Birrell has also served as Group Director of M&A for bwin.party Entertainment, prior to its acquisition by GVC Holdings.
Paul Foster, Managing Director at Crucial Compliance, said: “We are thrilled to have Nigel join the team. With his unrivalled industry knowledge and experience, we are looking forward to receiving his counsel in helping to shape Crucial’s future for sustainable growth.
“In attracting someone of Nigel’s calibre, we have reiterated our commitment to driving safer gambling and business change through holistic growth strategies.”
Birrell will support and advise Crucial Compliance executive team on the firm’s strategy for international expansion, developing new compliance solutions for new market incumbents and stakeholders.
The appointment of Birrell as non-executive chairman follows Andy Masters joining Crucial Compliance as new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
“I am delighted to be joining Paul, Andy and the team at Crucial Compliance at this formative stage in what has already been a tremendous early phase of its development as a leading provider of regulatory, corporate responsibility and compliance services,” Birrell added.
