The very first Esports Industry Awards will take place at The Brewery in London on November 21st with big name hosts in the form of gaming industry presenter Julia Hardy and The Gadget Show’s Jason Bradbury.
MBN Events has teamed up with NewBay Media, owner of both MCV and Develop, to launch the Esports Industry Awards. This is a new event which aims to recognise and reward all of those who have contributed to the mesmerising growth of the industry worldwide over the past year.
Both Gfinity and MCV have been already been announced as sponsors. Neville Upton, Gfinity CEO, commented: “Gfinity is delighted to be the broadcast partner and helping to raise the profile of esports within the UK while recognising the achievements of people throughout the industry.”
Gfnity is an event organiser and it runs LAN gaming events out of its dedicated esports venue in Fulham Broadway’s Vue.
Over 600 industry figures will attend the event which will see awards dished out in a total of 18 categories including: Team of the Year; Game of the Year; Esports Journalist of the Year, Esports Commercial Partner of the Year, Esports Personality of the Year and Best Live Event.
Julia Hardy, who is a presenter of Radio 1’s Gaming Show, said: “I’m really honoured to be invited to help co-host the first ever UK awards dedicated solely to esports.”
She added: “Esports are well and truly here to stay and I’m looking forward to congratulating the winners and the nominees on the night for all their hard work in such a passionate part of gaming.”
Nominations are open now for each of the award categories and this will close on Friday May 6th.
