Will Sepp show up? FIFA presidential race nears conclusion

Sepp Blatter may have been banned from football for eight years but William Hill isn’t too sure this’ll stop him from turning up at the FIFA congress this week. Sepp Blatter, who has endlessly protested his innocence in the ongoing corruption investigation which scandalized the football federation last year, continues to be in the news as he appeals his personal ban. Blatter

The bookmaker is offering odds of 13/8 that the former FIFA President is in attendance at the congress and vote in Zurich this coming Friday.

William Hill Press Officer Joe Crilly, said of the market: “We have seen Sepp has often had trouble letting go of football and he may well turn up to see who takes over from him.”

Friday will see Sepp’s successor named at long last with five in contention to be named as the new FIFA president. The favourites are Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al Khalifa at 8/15 and Gianni Infantino at 6/4.

The other names in the hat are 8/1 HRH Prince Ali al Hussein; and Jerome Champagne and Tokyo Sexwale who are both priced at 66/1.

William Hill is also offering a market on whether this presidential election will be cancelled, with odds of 11/2 that it will be.

Should it go ahead as planned, Blatter is at 4/9 not to attend.
