Ladbrokes embraces betting to gaming cross-sell with HungryBear

Ladbrokes has partnered with HungryBear Gaming, adding a new slot game to its portfolio with a sports betting theme.

The new title, ‘Clash of the Day’, uses the same free-to-play tournament mechanics as HungryBear’s ‘Slot Masters’ multiplayer game, which has been rolled out as part of Ladbrokes’ gaming content in the past.

Players choose either a Premier League club or Ladbrokes in-house team ‘Fanzone FC’ and climb a leaderboard by accumulating points. HungryBear has emphasised that the main difference between its new release and the original Slot Masters range is players’ use of ‘tactics to get ahead of their opponents’.

Justin Chamberlain, CEO of HungryBear Gaming, said: “The launch of Clash of the Day with Entain and Ladbrokes is an important moment for us. It demonstrates the potential of the Slot Master’s model, providing online sportsbooks and casino with an efficient and fun way to further engage players.

“We’re proud to have taken our partnership with Ladbrokes to the next level. The operator was among the first to back the Slot Masters concept, and we value their trust in deploying this latest sports version.”

Notable ‘tactical’ features of the new product include VAR, which freezes on opponents reels; ‘The Tackle’, which cuts a balance by 50%; ‘Wall’, which defends against attracts’ and the red card, which drains 100% of an opponent’s funds and puts it into the attacking player’s balance.

HungryBear outlined that a key objective of its new product is to reach new audiences beyond the slots community, targeting cross-selling between sports bettors and casino customers.

Meanwhile, for Ladbrokes, the rollout of Clash of the Day is the latest expansion of the company’s offering and its latest move to broaden its customer base since signing an entertainment-focused deal last month.

Speaking to SBC News shortly after the firm signed the deal with The O2, NME and AEG Presents, Ladbrokes Head of Public Relations, Nicola McGeady, emphasised the company’s entertainment-focused approach to betting.
