Spanish gambling and leisure firm Grupo CIRSA SA has confirmed the inbound appointment of Antonio Grau as new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Grau will join the CIRSA executive leadership team this October replacing incumbent CFO David Royo, who during Q2 trading announced that he had chosen to end his 13-year tenure leading CIRSA financial units.
An expert in corporate financing, financial planning and auditing of mass-market enterprises, Grau is the former CFO of Spanish multinational publishing firm Grupo Planeta and low-cost airliner Vueling.
In his remit, Grau will be tasked with leading the financial strategy and oversight of CIRSA business activities across nine countries, in which the company operates 140 casinos, 82 bingo halls and 3,000 sports betting points.
Inbound for October, Grau will join the Spanish gambling group, as the company reorders its operations following the impacts of the COVID-19 lockdown.
This June, Spanish business news sources reported that CIRSA owner Blackstone Group had placed its Spanish gambling asset under review, as the COVID-19 pandemic had wiped-out its plans related to a future IPO.
CIRSA has confirmed that Royo will be maintained as a corporate director, advising the company on South American expansion projects and further growth directives.
