Toronto TSX-listed Amaya Inc has confirmed the appointment of Bo Wänghammar to the senior management position of PokerStars Casino Managing Director, as the operator seeks to continue its aggressive expansion of new product verticals in 2017.
An industry veteran Wänghammar joins PokerStars from European igaming operator Mr Green & Co where he held number of Executive management positions including CEO of Mr Green’s Malta division (2014-2016).
Wänghammar will be tasked with executing strategy and operations for PokerStars casino verticals, as Amaya further diversifies its product assets away from online poker.
In its latest trading update, Amaya governance detailed that combined online casino and sports betting revenue had climbed 114% to $183 million for the Q1-Q3 period (January – September 2016).
Welcoming Wänghammar to Amaya operations, group CEO Rafi Ashkenazi stated “We believe Bo is a great addition to Rational Group’s senior management team.
“Not only does he have great experience in growing an online casino brand from the ground up, but he has management talent across a range of industries.”
Wänghammar backed Ashkenazi’s positive comments, stating that he looked forward to taking PokerStars’ casino assets to the next level.
