Gambling.com appoints Gerry Ahern as US content lead

Expanding its US profile, Gambling.com Group Plc has confirmed the appointment of Gerry Ahern as Director of North American Content.

A 30-year veteran in sports media and publishing, Ahern will oversee the development of Gambling.com content production for US market audiences.

Ahern is the former VP of Content for USA Today Sports (2011-2016) and has most recently served as Editor-in-Chief of Golfweek Magazine (Gannet Group).

“Gerry brings a wealth of experience and connections in building top-flight content operations in the digital space,” remarks Gambling.com Group Chief Executive Officer Charles Gillespie.

“His leadership will allow us to refine and grow our strong team to handle players’ thirst for insight into all aspects of betting and gambling”.

In his new remit, Ahern will take charge of content development, audience engagement and overseeing publishing teams working on Gambling.com’s US strategic assets of Bookies.com, TopUSBets.com as well as the Badder Beats podcast.

Advancing its US agenda, last April Gambling.com announced that it had become the first betting-specific publisher to be accredited by the Executive Committee of the ‘Associated Press Sports Editors – APSE’ – joining US established sports publishers such as ESPN, Bleacher Report, USA Today and the Chicago Tribune.

“In-depth coverage of gambling is the present and the future of sports and sports journalism,” says Ahern. “Gambling.com Group has established itself as the leader in news and coverage of the online gambling industry and how to legally wager on the games fans love. We will bring a passionate and comprehensive approach that informs, educates and entertains.”
