The proliferation of cyber attacks affecting the gambling industry has been clear for all to see during recent months and years, with a smattering of household names having fallen foul of such raids.
As such action becomes much more commonplace within the gaming ecosystem, Druvstar has been vocal in suggesting that not only are we at a critical crossroads but also face a startling shortage of relevant professionals in combatting such issues.
With the need to fast track solutions becoming ever more pressing, Manjit Gombra Singh, CEO of DruvStar, speaks to SBC News to address just how much of a worry this is and how serious the need for effective solutions to be delivered quickly truly are.
“The majority of the organisations do not have sufficient staffing to provide 24×7 continuous monitoring,” he says.
“This is one of our major concerns. Our approach in this area is to build software solutions which embed the cybersecurity know-how and provide those as managed services.
“Our DataVision can automatically classify data and learn behaviors using machine learning, which ensures that the product provides value without creating a huge need for additional staffing. Similarly our Governor products contain technology to automate security governance principles.”
DataVision is a SaaS tool powered by AI/ML technologies, which is tasked with providing comprehensive data observability, and unmatched insights for data governance and protection.
However, before moving on to tackle potential solutions, Singh continues his warning by elaborating on if we can expect to see a continuing uplift in cyber attacks moving forward.
“It will take another half a decade of sustained work to slowdown the acceleration of data breaches”
“Thus far, we have seen an acceleration of attacks,” he comments. “The number of data breaches are breaking new records. It will take another half a decade of sustained work to slowdown the acceleration of data breaches.
“We also expect that the nature of data security and safety issues will shift from stealing the information to questioning the legacy of an enterprise’s data, which would create a dire sense of loss of control and quality decision making, especially as the gaming industry attempts to use AI models to leverage them for its unique purposes.
“You have to put guard rails around sensitive and important data, understand where it is and continually monitor it to ensure its legacy is untainted.”
With cyberattacks becoming one of the most severe threats to online casinos across recent memory, and showing little sign of slowing down, the necessity for organisations to ensure that they are correctly protected and secured is larger than ever before.
To rectify any potential faults and flaws, Singh advises traditional cybersecurity measures fall short and that attention should instead be placed on emerging technology to tackle a range of escalating dangers.
“To effectively combat industry challenges, organisations should invest in advanced security technologies like AI and machine learning for data protection, establish continuous 24×7 monitoring through managed services, and implement strong data governance frameworks,” he explains.
“A proactive security culture is essential, emphasising regular assessments and training while fostering collaboration among stakeholders to share best practices.
“…future cyber defense will combine innovative technologies with industry knowledge, solid governance, and a proactive approach”
“Additionally, addressing the cybersecurity skills shortage through workforce education will further enhance the industry’s ability to protect sensitive data and tackle cyber threats.”
Adding: “The future of data and cyber defense will focus on advanced technologies and proactive strategies to safeguard sensitive information.
“Data governance will become crucial, focusing on visibility into data flows to protect sensitive information.
“Overall, future cyber defense will combine innovative technologies with industry knowledge, solid governance, and a proactive approach to adapt to the evolving threat landscape.”
With all of this in mind, attention inevitably turns to a new year and the hope of a prosperous period lying ahead. For Druvstar, 2025 brings lofty ambitions of witnessing a significant growth in the overall size of the company.
“We will add another 10 jurisdictions,” Singh concludes. “We also see that the market has finally realised the need for our data safety and security governance products. So, we expect to double our business and make a meaningful positive impact in our core markets.”
