Ladbrokes Australia granted Apple Watch betting app approval

Ladbrokes Australia’s Chief Information Officer Scott Hutchens has revealed that the operator has gained approval from Apple for the release of its Apple Watch betting app.

Ladbrokes is set to become the first betting firm to have a wearable app device on the Apple Watch which begins customer shipping on 24 April.

Hutchens informed Australian racing news source horseracing.com.au that the app had been developed by the company’s Australian development team and would further bolster the company’s mobile product inventory.

“Our new app is in the app store – ready and approved for the launch of the Apple Watch,” Ladbrokes Australia Chief Information Officer. Our technology focus at Ladbrokes is on innovation for our punters. We have seen the rise of mobile to the point where it is now more than 50% of total turnover – with the phonethe primary device” Hutchens told horseracing.com.au

“The Apple Watch becomes another device to engage with our customers for more than just novelty. The Apple Watch extension communicates with the main Ladbrokes iOS App and will enable customers to actually bet directly from their wrist. It is unprecedented design and the simplest betting interface in the world.”

Ladbrokes Australia Chief Marketing Officer James Burnett backed Hutchens comments by welcoming the addition of the new betting app, further stating that Ladbrokes aimed to become leaders in betting innovation.
