The Belgian Gambling Commission (BGC) has added a further five online domains to its blacklist of illegal online gambling operators, including Gibraltar operator BetVictor.com. According to the BGC BetVictor and the other blacklisted operators are in breach of current online gaming laws within the region, and should be allowed to take on Belgium sports betting or gambling wagers. Currently Belgium allows only operators with a land-based partners in the EU Member State to be eligible for a dot.be license. The Belgian Gambling Commission has crackddown on a number of top online betting operators including bet365 and William Hill who have been further added to the Belgium Blacklist
Currently Belgium’s BGC has granted only seven approved a A+ licenses for igaming verticals in their jurisdiction, licenses have been granted to online gaming operators such as Poker Stars and bwin.party. The other four companies/brands submitted to the growing blacklist were Casino operators – GrandLuxe, Monacasino, Royalcasino and City Club, this blacklist now totals 74 igaming operators have been placed on the blacklist with such names as 888 Gaming and Betfair being part.
BetVictor have been vocal critiques of the current Belgium igaming regulations, with Chief Executive Michael Carlton being one of several igaming executives to sign an open letter to the European Commission last year calling on the governmental body to ensure Belgium complies with common EU business law.
