CFR Cluj deal signals new chapter for Don.ro’s growth in Romania

Soft2Bet is expanding its footprint in Romania through its Don.ro brand which has signed a multi-year deal to become the main sponsor of CFR 1907 Cluj.

Beginning with the 2025-26 season, the Liga 1 side will display the Don.ro logo on both their home and away kits, training gear and throughout the Dr. Constantin Rădulescu stadium.

It was in late 2023 that Soft2Bet debuted Don.ro in late 2023 as its which was the company’s very first dedicated venture in Romania, operating which now operates under a Romanian gambling licence (ONJN). Partnering with one of the country’s most widely followed football teams serves the company’s brand growth ambitions in the market.

An official representative of Don.ro, Marius Mirasovici, said: “We are honored to join the CFR Cluj family, a symbol of excellence in Romanian football. This partnership reflects the shared values that bring us together – performance, responsibility, and respect for the community.

“At Don.ro, we are committed to promoting a safe and balanced entertainment environment, and through our collaboration with CFR Cluj, we aim to deliver a strong message about the importance of responsible play, both on and off the field.”

The platform featured more than 1,200 games at launch, later expanding to nearly 4,000, alongside sportsbook services and gamified engagement tools. As part of this roll-out, Soft2Bet deepened its collaboration with Hacksaw Gaming which then brought Romanian-approved slot titles to the Don.ro platform.

Last year, shortly following Don.ro’s launch, Styliana Kalogreadou, Head of B2B Marketing at Soft2Bet, reflected on the company’s global expansion. “At Soft2Bet, we’re constantly evolving, so sustaining the momentum of our growth is second nature to us,” she said.

Betting companies are continuing to be active partners in Romanian football, with no lingering talks of bans on shirt sponsorships like over in the UK.

An appealing market

According to Soft2Bet’s General Counsel, David Yatom, Romania is one of the group’s pivotal Eastern European markets, positioned as a “launching point” to expand deeper into the region.

In 2021, Romania’s total gambling market revenue exceeded £400m for the very first time, with online gambling accounting for 56.7% of that figure.

This strong growth positioned Romania as one of the most appealing markets for iGaming operators like Soft2Bet to broaden their presence. As of 2025, the country’s gambling market is projected to reach approximately £1.03bn.

The new partnership with the top-flight Romanian club pushes the brand’s visibility even further in the local market, and also includes a range of live and digital initiatives supported by Soft2Bet’s platform, focused on enhancing fans’ interactions.

Cristian Balaj, CFR Cluj President, added on the deal with Don.ro: “The fact that Don.ro is becoming the main partner of our club is both a validation of the work we do every day and an important step in strengthening CFR Cluj’s image both nationally and internationally.

“We are pleased to have a dynamic partner by our side, one with a modern vision who believes in the power of sport to inspire and bring people together. Moreover, Don.ro has chosen to offer each season ticket holder this season an official jersey – a gesture of appreciation for the passion and loyalty with which they support us.”
