Angelo Alberoni to lead technical agenda of IBJR

Angelo Alberoni has been named Technical Director of The Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR).

With more than 15 years of experience in the sector, the executive will assume leadership of the organisation’s technical agenda, which monitors the publication of ordinances detailing the requirements and rites foreseen for the betting market.

Alberoni is country manager for Novibet in Brazil, and has previously worked at Betsson Group, Betcris and Betmotion.

The institute has claimed that after the country’s recent regulation, Alberoni’s work within the IBJR will help bolster efforts in strengthening the sector.

Andre Gelfi, President of IBJR, stated: “Based on his experience in large betting houses, leading operations in the Brazilian market and active in the search for a safe and responsible sector, IBJR’s choice to appoint Angelo Alberoni as new technical director follows the institute’s proposal to continue evolving with the work done so far.”

Gelfi added that it is an effort to fight for a legal and “constantly growing” Brazilian sector.

The IBGR was created with the aim of fostering the debate on the regulation of this segment in Brazil, contributing information to defend the creation of guidelines so that sports betting companies can operate legally, protecting the interests of players.

As Brazil pipes up to take over the headlines with the launch of its regulated market, SBC recently invited a panel of experts to discuss the intricacies of navigating the new landscape.

Moderated by Peter Murray, Director of Strategy at Mitek Systems, the conversation unfolded by exploring three main focus points for companies looking to set shop in Brazil – fraud, KYC and player safety.
