Ecuabet named title partner of Ecuadorian top flight

Ecuabet has partnered with the Ecuadorian Football Federation in gaining the naming rights to the country’s top football division, LigaPro.

The league will come under LigaPro Ecuabet for the next five years, with the strong possibility of an extension.

Miguel Ángel Loor, President of the LigaPro, said: “We have travelled an important path in the Professional League to be where we are, and we have gone hand in hand with Ecuabet without anyone knowing, trying to make this day come.”

The 2024 season of the LigaPro Ecuabet will begin on 16 February.

“It is the number one company investing in Ecuador, not only in football but in social issues. And it is a very important agreement for football, for the clubs, for the footballers and for everyone. I am very proud to call ourselves LigaPro Ecuabet since 16 February.”

Before the end of 2023, LigaPro updated its rules regarding sports betting in the face of market growth and several investigations of players for possible participation in this type of activity.

This was a ban on participation in sports betting by players, managers and other members of the LigaPro teams – in addition to family members – as notified by the Council of Presidents.

It should be noted that the betting sector operates normally in Ecuador, both in face-to-face establishments and on online platforms, although there is no specific regulation in this regard, except for a presidential decree that prohibits advertising and a law that provides for a 15% tax for national and global operators, along with another 15% on player prizes.
