Sportradar expands Kyodo News partnership with multi-year deal

Sports betting data provider Sportradar has extended its collaboration with leading Japanese media outlet Kyodo News via a multi-year partnership with its subsidiary Kyodo News Digital, strengthening its position in the Asian market.

Sportradar and Kyodo News initiated a working relationship in 2018, revolving around the supply and support of data from various international competitions, covering a range of sports including baseball, basketball, football, rugby, tennis and golf.

Under the terms of the expanded agreement, Sportradar will re-distribute its multi-sport data API services and Radar360 product to Kyodo’s media clients across Japan.

“Media partners use our turnkey services to tell unique, data-driven stories,” said Danny Fok, Head of Business Development, Asia at Sportradar.

“With these expanded capabilities, it will be even easier to comprehend trends and produce amazing content for pre, in, and post-game consumption. It’s a tremendous opportunity for us to partner with Kyodo News who are an established media outlet not only in Japan, but in the region.”

Sportradar will leverage its Radar 360 offering to provide editors and clients with access to real-time data from the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Meanwhile, the partnership will also offer exclusive data to baseball fans through Sportradar’s MLB Statcast products, the exclusive distributor of real-time game statistics across international markets for Major League Baseball (MLB).

Radar360 includes the ability to create, modify and save custom reports and allows users to access data through an interface and customisable queries, whilst Statcast is a tracking technology service allowing for the collection and analysis of baseball data.

“Offering accurate and reliable information is the cornerstone of our business and we are excited to be partnering with Sportradar to provide the market leading products and services to us and our clients,” commented Ryuichi Koie, General Manager of Kyodo News Digital’s Sports Data Division.

In addition to expanding its media agreement, Sportardar has struck a number of sporting and betting integrity partnerships over the past month, notably securing deals with the General Directorate National Police of Bulgaria, West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) and Netherlands Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF).
