Sportradar to ‘uphold and protect’ WAFF sporting integrity

The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) has joined Sportradar’s list of clients, utilising the firm’s services to ‘uphold and protect’ the integrity of regional tournaments.

Sportradar’s Integrity Services Education and Prevention team will take an active role in the provision of educational material to key stakeholders in WAFF tournaments.

This series of educational workshops will cover a diverse range of topics aimed at strengthening the integrity insights of WAFF members, including international sports betting, social media integrity and match fixing.

“We are honoured to be starting this relationship with the WAFF, who are taking crucial proactive measures in the fight to prevent integrity issues,” said Andreas Krannich, Managing Director Integrity Services at Sportradar.

“We hope this relationship will be a fruitful one where we can collaboratively work together to safeguard the integrity of football in the region and help the WAFF become a model for other federations in Asia and around the globe.”

The WAFF – which has 12 national members and is headquartered in Jordan – intends to bolster its regional integrity operations and highlight its ‘commitment to assist member associations in adopting an effective approach towards tackling any form of match-fixing risk’, via the utilisation of Sportradar’s educational initiatives.

Khalil Al Salem, General Secretary of WAFF, added: “The West Asian Football Federation is committed to fighting match-fixing, and under this agreement we are demonstrating the importance we place on protecting the game in West Asia.”

“We are excited to collaborate and work together with Sportradar to educate, spread awareness and protect the integrity of West Asian football.”

The addition of WAFF into Sportradar’s client portfolio follows last week’s agreement with the Netherlands Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF), which will see the sports data collection and analytics firm work to safeguard the integrity of over 1500 football, basketball and darts events in the Netherlands throughout 2021.
