Aspire completes ‘full service’ objectives as it finalises BtoBet acquisition   

Aspire Global has completed its acquisition of BtoBet in a transaction that sees Stockholm-listed technology group significantly amplify its igaming services and global commercial footprint. 

Officially disclosed on 17 September, Aspire secured a formal agreement to acquire BtoBet’s sportsbook technologies and operating systems outright for a deal valued at €20 million.

Deal terms have seen Aspire pay an upfront €15 million cash purchase for BtoBet technologies, with a further €5 million payout agreed over a 12-month trading period following the closure of the deal. 

Aspire underscored that its acquisition will have no material impact on its financial results for 2020, while corporate governance anticipated that BtoBet assets will garner a positive EBITDA outcome reflected on its full-year 2021 results.

Taking ownership of BtoBet assets, Aspire stated that it has completed its corporate objective of servicing all core components of igaming’s value chain – with BtoBet sportsbook systems complementing its 2019 €13 million buyout of igaming white-label services provider Pariplay.

Aspire will also take control of BtoBet’s 33 sportsbook platform contracts which are primarily serviced within the developing markets of Africa and South America.

This October, Flutter Entertainment confirmed that its flagship Betfair subsidiary will utilise BtoBet’s ‘Neuron-3’ platform as its lead sportsbook system for the launch of its services within the regulated Colombian online gambling marketplace.

“With the proprietary sportsbook Aspire Global controls the IP in the full value chain and consequently also steers the complete roadmap,” said Aspire. “In addition, the proprietary sportsbook provides Aspire Global with the highest flexibility when it comes to adding new features and securing fast time to market.”
