Kindred promotes ‘proven talent’ Erik Backlund to Group CPO

Kindred Group Plc has confirmed the promotion of long-term sportsbook lead Erik Backlund to the position of Group Chief Product Officer (CPO), further serving as a new member of the Stockholm-listed firm’s executive leadership team.

The internal promotion sees Backlund replace Fredrik Kjell, who departed Kindred this autumn to join telecoms securities firm TrueCaller as chief operations officer.

Updating investors, Kindred marked the promotion of Backlund to Group CPO as a logical appointment, noting the executive’s proven track record having delivered on all major product upgrades, projects and transitions for Kindred’s flagship sportsbook division.

In its statement, Kindred governance highlighted the importance of Backlund joining its executive management team, having worked across all levels of the company’s workforce and operational structures.

Henrik Tjänrström, CEO Kindred Group, commented: “Fredrik Kjell has made a significant contribution to Kindred in the four years he has been with the company and we wish him all the very best for the future in his new role outside the gambling industry.

“Kindred has a great track record of developing talent internally and supporting employees with their career progression and there is no better example than Erik Backlund who has now taken upon the role as Kindred´s new Chief Product Officer and as a member of the Executive Management Team.”
