The most important factor for German players choosing a bookmaker is a wide range of sports and leagues to bet on, found a survey among users on MySportwetten.de, but members of the same odds comparison site are largely not interested in playing online casino.
Leadstar Media brand MySportwetten completed the survey to understand more about its affiliated players as the German sports betting market bounces back from COVID-19.
The non-representative survey was conducted among members of the MySportwetten community, which includes more than 11,000 users on its Facebook page.
After the widest range of leagues and sports to bet on, it revealed that the second most important factor for German players choosing a bookmaker was a good cash-out function, followed by the most competitive odds.
Also very high up in the ranking, found the survey, is trust in the bookmaker, a well-designed betting app and the absence of a betting tax for players.
Since July 2012, German players have to pay 5% tax on every bet but some bookies, such as market leader Tipico, use this betting tax as a sports bonus and pay the tax on behalf of the customer which leads to more competitive odds.
However, the survey was not confined to the most important features for players, but also those that don’t hold as much interest. For example, members of the MySportwetten community are not really interested in playing in an online casino – even if it is part of a bookmaker’s offer.
Similarly, live streaming was also not considered as important, and likewise the range of payment methods generally, although PayPal was highlighted as a valuable inclusion.
