Sky Betting and Gaming received applications from over 1900 candidates in just four weeks for the recently announced commercial graduate scheme. The company are also due to launch a university placement scheme.

Over 120 potential recruits applied for each of the 16 roles on offer within the company’s financial, operations and gaming and betting teams. The scheme closed early due to the demand, with 50 graduates invited to an assessment day. They will soon find out if they’ve got a place.

The company has also worked hard to attract graduates from key UK locations including Loughborough, Cardiff and Edinburgh. This has been more pressing for the company’s technology roles, including the recently launched software academy where applications are still sought.

Rob Painter, Sky Betting & Gaming’s Brand and HR Director, stated: “We were amazed with the response to the commercial graduate scheme and look forward to welcoming some very talented people to the business later this year. We’re still recruiting for our software academy so I’d encourage anyone who wants to work in a challenging, fast paced tech business to get in touch.”

Stuart Clarke, Leeds Digital Board, added: “Sky Betting & Gaming has long been one of Leeds’s most important and innovative digital companies, so I’m not surprised at the level of interest shown in these key new roles. It’s great to see one of Leeds’s biggest employers investing in the next generation of talent. SB&G were a key sponsor of this year’s Leeds Digital Festival and we’re looking forward to working with them next year”.

Yasmin Ahkter, Lead Recruiter Commercial & Operations, said: “It’s a really exciting time to be in Yorkshire and with our company. There’s a lot of autonomy from the off and great progression and reward. Our scheme is closed for this year, but next year’s will be open for applicants this coming autumn.”

Sky Betting and Gaming have hired just under 600 employees in the last 12 months, with 40% of hires made in the four months since January.
