DraftKings CEO Jason Robins has stated to fantasy sports news source RotoGrinders that his company will launch UK operations in mid to late October.
The fantasy sports operator enters the UK market having gained a UKGC license in August, DraftKings announced that its UK and European operations would be led by Jeffery Haas former Director of Poker for bwin.party Entertainment, who will act as Chief International Officer.
Giving insight to RotoGrinders Dan Back, Robins detailed that DraftKings was working on a ‘localised experience’ for the UK market. Robins stated that its UK product would share liquidity with its US fantasy sports platform.
Robins commented on the operators planned UK launch
“There absolutely will be pooled liquidity. Trying to build something from scratch country to country isn’t really interesting.
“When you can enter a market like the U.K. and come locked and loaded with millions and millions in prizes and millions of people playing, you’re going to be a lot more successful getting people to try and retain on the platform.”
“Ultimately it’s just like having a marketing channel, it’s just another place to build our player base faster than our competition.”
