Betsson AB brands gain UKGC operational licence

European Malta based igaming and sports betting operator Betsson AB has confirmed that it has been granted a UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) operational license. The operator will continue to service the UK betting market through its Betsafe sportsbook and Mr Smith igaming brands.

Betsson AB governance were pleased to announce the conformation of its UKGC license approval, the operator stated that it viewed the UKGC online gambling framework to be sustainable, well planned and progressive.

Betsson AB CEO and President Magnus Silfverberg commented on the granting of the license

“It is gratifying that Betsson has received a license in United Kingdom. It is natural for Betsson, as one of the leading online gaming companies in Europe, to operate under a local license on the UK market. We encourage that other European countries that are currently re-regulating will look closer at, and get inspired by the UK model”

The operator confirmed that its UKGC license had become effective on 31 March, Betsson AB will be able to service and promote its Mr Smith and BetSafe brands to UK consumers.
