Betsson Group acquired sports betting brand – NordicBet.com has sent out a player communication announcing that the operator would no longer be accepting wagers on any of its products from region outside of –, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
As of the 2nd of January 2014, NordicBet customers outside of the above mentioned territories will not be allowed to access NordicBet gaming inventory (Sportsbook, casino, poker and bingo products).
A company statement was emailed to customers who would be affected by the strategic decision, to no longer market and accept wagers of players outside of the above mentioned countries. NordicBet have additionally sent out communications to marketing partners, payment providers and affiliates warning them of the changes that will be happening on the 2nd of January 2014.
Betsson Group the owners of NordicBet.com who acquired the betting brand in April 2012, have yet to give a detailed explanation as to why they have chosen to no longer take wagers from outside the Nordic regions for their igaming brand.
Industry commentators and new sources have commented that Betsson Group appropriated these actions in response to future legislation in the UK that requires operators to be licensed in the country.
