SG Digital gains early Mississippi traction securing Gaming Labs systems certification

SG Digital, the new technology division of Nasdaq-listed Scientific Games Corporation (SGC) continues to make progress on its US agenda, confirming that it has completed mandatory pre-compliance testing set by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

Updating the market, SG Digital confirms that its ‘OpenBet – Sportsbook Retail Platform’ has fulfilled all requirements of the Mississippi Gaming Commission’s ‘GLI-33 Event Wagering Systems’ for servicing sports and pool wagering.

Preparing to regulate its sports betting market, the Mississippi Gaming Commission has tasked independent sector authority Gaming Labs International (GLI), to outline guidance on standards and integrity for future Mississippi stakeholders.

“Evaluation against draft GLI-33 demonstrates that the software and systems conform to a broad set of well-recognized and accepted requirements for compliance suitability in a variety of markets. The evaluation of the SG Digital OpenBet platform against GLI-33 by GLI provides SG Digital, regulators, and its customers independent evaluation to its suitability,” said Ian Hughes, GLI’s Vice President of GLI Global Services.

The First Pass Pre-Compliance Evaluation confirmed that SG Digital’s retail point-of-sale terminal and administrative backend systems that support OpenBet operate in line with the proposed regulatory expectations of GLI. This evaluation sets the stage for a full review of the OpenBet functionality.

At present, Mississippi seeks to become the first US Southern state to legislate for sports betting services within its licensed casino premises. Seeking to deliver its initial sports betting infrastructure by July 2018, state legislatures demand that all technology vendors undergo necessary testing and certification before licensing approval.

The GLI testing was supported by Keith O’Loughlin, SVP Sportsbook at SG Digital, said, “As legalized sports betting spreads across the states, we’re taking every step to provide a seamless transition for our partners. Speed is of the essence, and this pre-compliance review positions us as a partner of choice for operators seeking industry-leading turnkey sportsbook solutions across land-based, online and mobile channels.”
