Irish online bookmaker BetBright this Saturday confirmed the appointment of Rich Ricci as its new Executive Chairman.

Ricci (51) the former Director of Corporate Investments for Barclays Bank, is one of UK racing’s most successful owners with his stables having provided champion studs such as Douvan, Faugheen and Min.

Following press speculation that Ricci would join BetBright, the operator unveiled its new chairman at a press conference for its ‘Cheltenham BetBright Cup’.

Ricci joins BetBright, as it targets aggressive expansion in the saturated UK online betting market. The Irish operator has raised its UK profile through a series of sponsorships of several UK racing meets including races at Doncaster and Cheltenham.

Taking on the governance role, Ricci detailed that he believed that BetBright could make a significant impact on the consolidating UK betting sector. Ricci further stated to media sources that he could not turn down the opportunity to take on the market.

“The interesting thing is that BetBright has been founded by technology guys and I just felt that they’ve built a better mousetrap than others. I enjoy mentoring the company and the people involved . It’s something I’m really enjoying.

“I had interest from BetBright last summer and come on board as an executive. It’s interesting and great to be associated with something I have a real passion for.”
