Codere Online lands Box Azteca partnership to galvanise Mexican brand coverage

Latin America sportsbook Codere Online has significantly expanded its brand coverage in Mexico, becoming the headline sponsor of ‘Box Azteca’ – the flagship boxing show of TV Azteca.

The sponsorship will see Codere Online promoted across all televised Box Azteca fight nights, broadcast across Mexico every Saturday from 11pm on the Azteca 7 channel.

Codere Online has branded the sponsorship as a ‘deep strike in Mexico’ – in which boxing alongside football ranks as the nation’s most watched sports.

Box Azteca fights nights are presented by legendary Mexican commentator Rodolfo Vargas, who is accompanied by boxing pound-for-pound Hall of Famers Julio Cesar Chavez and Marco Antonio Barrera.

Announcing the partnership Codere Online outlined that it would use Box Azteca media rights to promote its sportsbook rebrand to Mexican audiences.

Launched in November 2021, Codere Online is the former LatAm markets property of Spanish gambling firm Grupo Codere, which was divested to SPAC partner DD3 Acquisition Corp – which led Codere Online’s listing on the Global Nasdaq securing a corporate valuation of $350m.

Operating in Mexico since 1988, Codere has a recognised brand presence as the operator of 88 gaming rooms across the country’s provinces and the operator of Codere Apuestas betting shops in Mexico City.
