Unpredictable midweek fixtures frustrating for fantasy managers

With a combination of unpredictable scorelines and key personnel being ‘rested,’ the Premier League’s midweek fixtures proved to be a frustrating round for fantasy managers.

David Silva, Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah were among the key names rested during gameweek 14, with a number of sides scattered throughout English footballers top division also registering crucial wins.

Tony Kelshaw was the big winner towards the summit of SBC’s League of Legends, outscoring all those around him with 64 for the round.  The Press Association betting content journalist continued on from his 70 point weekend showing, rising from eighth to fifth in the process.  Liverpool’s free scoring Egyptian Mohamed Salah top scored with 13 points, after coming off the bench to notch another two goals, ably backed up by Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey (ten points) and Raheem Sterling (nine), finishing on 803 points overall.

Another big mover was Konstantinos Digonis, taking advantage of some uncharacteristically low scores to surge up to sixth with 59 points. Burnley’s Robbie Brady shared top scoring duty with Salah, who is the top scorer overall with 108 points, with Sterling, second overall on 87, on hand with yet again with another late winner.

SBC’s Charlie Cole is still the man to catch however, with his lead at the top ever so slightly stretched out to 21 points. The deadly Liverpool and Manchester City duo of Salah and Sterling were again on hand, with captain Harry Kane’s goalscoring heroics seeing him bag six points which was duly doubled to 12.

Gameweek 15 gets underway at Stamford Bridge, with out of form Newcastle United the visitors, while Everton will hope their sticky patch is well and truly behind them as they host Huddersfield Town.

League leaders City welcome struggling West Ham United to The Etihad, while the game of the weekend undoubtedly emanates from The Emirates, with Manchester United the visitors on Saturday evening.
