‘Fighting Finn’ launches casino affiliate website

A former National Hockey League (NHL) enforcer has announced plans to launch a new casino affiliate website.

Sami Helenius, formerly of Calgary Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks, is to target Swedish casino enthusiasts with ‘Kasino Curt.’

Speaking about the aims of his new project, Helenius said:  “When it comes to online gambling, Sweden is a very interesting country. A Swedish market survey by the Mediavision consultancy, found that 61 percent of all new online gambling accounts set up over the past year were with internationally licensed operators.

“From an affiliate’s point of view, this means that referring Swedish players to online casinos should not be difficult, as long as the affiliate website has traffic.

“I believe that in a couple of years internationally licensed online operators will be allowed to apply for Swedish licenses. I am very excited about Kasino Curt.”

Helenius can’t promote the website in his homeland of Finland, where gaming is directed by the Lotteries Act, and three organisations, Veikkaus, RAY and Fintoto, hold exclusive rights to gambling operations.

In Sweden it is believed that plans to overhaul its online gambling market are to be pressed ahead with, ending the monopoly of state owned Svenka Spel and allowing international operators to apply for local licenses.

Should this go ahead, however, it’s thought it won’t come into force until after the country holds its next general election in September 2018.
