bet365 has announced its official launch in Peru, continuing its expansion across new South American markets.
This morning, the independently-owned betting group debuted its bet365.pe website and mobile app, underscoring its commitment to delivering ‘a Never Ordinary’ online sports betting experience for Peruvian audiences.
By launching in Peru, bet365 will engage customers with its ‘pioneering offering’ of in-play betting markets, through its proprietary sportsbook platform, which covers over 96 sports and offers access to more than 1,000,000 live streams.
“We are delighted to launch a dedicated bet365 website in Peru, the fourth-largest country in the region, known for its vibrant culture and dynamic population,” bet365 stated in its launch statement.
“As well as our unrivalled sports betting experience, our customers in Peru can now enjoy a comprehensive range of offerings, including casino games, live casino action, and poker.”
Peru is the latest Latin American destination for bet365, following its brand launch in Mexico’s regulated market in 2019 and its securing of dual authorisation for online sportsbook operations in Buenos Aires province and city in 2022.
Further South American developments include bet365 being registered as one of 90 businesses to have secured licensing authorisation for the forthcoming Brazil Bets market – expected to launch in January 2025.
Last year, President Dina Boluarte authorised new amendments to Peru’s Gambling Law to establish a legal framework governing online gambling activities.
These amendments updated Peru’s tax code, imposing a 12% income tax on online gambling activities, applicable to both foreign and domestic operators.
Foreign operators must guarantee a minimum tax contribution of 600 Peruvian tax units (approximately $500,000) to maintain their licences, which are sanctioned and monitored by MINCETUR, Peru’s Ministry of Trade and Tourism.
Regulatory changes have made Peru a hotspot for M&A activity, with Betsson AB acquiring Lima-based online operator Inkabet in 2021 for $25m. Meanwhile, this summer, Blackstone-owned Spanish gambling group CIRSA acquired a 70% stake in Apuesta Total, becoming the largest operator in the Andean market.
bet365 underscored its commitment to providing safer gambling environments for its new Peruvian customers, stating: “We are dedicated to leveraging our extensive experience and advanced Responsible Gambling tools to ensure a secure and responsible gaming environment for all our customers in Peru.”
